Levelling-Up is a fashionable phrase at the moment. The current government promised to level up opportunities across the UK and, to be fair, seem to have started to make some fundamental changes, e.g. moving the Treasury headquarters to unfashionable Darlington in the North East. Non-Tory supporters, please don’t switch off; I’m no fan of any particular party.

Healthcare, though has always been a challenge in remote areas. Green open spaces are beautiful, but in areas like Wales, Cornwall, Cumbria and Lincolnshire, where green fields are in abundance, there aren’t that many qualified doctors, pharmacists and nurses. When a pharmacist decides to move away for family or career reasons, there aren’t many pharmacists within commuting distance to replace them. As a result, services suffer. GPs again process clinic letters and complete medication reviews, which is not good to use their time or skills.

There is no reason why patients in remote, rural areas should receive a lesser service than patients in London, Liverpool, Cardiff or Glasgow. Medacy Remote levels up medication-related healthcare and can be switched on much quicker than recruiting someone locally as the talent pool is much larger.
